Some 'HOW-TO's!
Right, well, as I've been feeling ill and stuck indoors bored, I decided to look through some of the many odd files saved on my desktop (mostly saved there because there was no better place for them ;) - Anyway, I came across some old 'HOW-TO' documents that I wrote about various things. I don't really want these on my desktop and as yesterdays post was so short (and contained nothing interesting) I thought I might stick them up here on my blog.
There are two quite useful 'HOW-TO's that I'm putting up - they are both methods for doing something useful that I found on the internet but only explained for windows programs etc... I rewrote them both for linux/open source software (OSS) users! The -first one- is a method for removing the sometimes obvious repeated lighting patterns from game textures and the likes - the orignal was for photoshop or something so I rewrote it for the gimp. I wrote the -second-, a method of hiding data in jpeg files, after I found I couldn't send somebody a file over msn because the computer was blocking it at the other end. The fake jpeg did the job (clever little schemer, me! hehe!) - I got the actual hiding technique off some website or the other, but again, it was for windows, so I rewrote it for linux with the intention of perhaps publishing it online someday - so now I have!!
They're not particularly well written, but I can't be bothered to edit them now - I just want them off of my desktop!! Have fun, hope they're useful to somebody!
